Bird Food Seed Mixes

It's not easy to pick a bird food mix and the 'best' mix is going to be one that suits you, your garden and your local wildlife.

If you havent found the above answer particularly helpful then we'd suggest going for our Gold Seed Mix. This is a firm favourite by a wide variety of birds and is excellent value for money. If you want less mess around your bird feeders, then try our No Grow Mix which only includes seeds that won't germinate if they fall to the ground around your feeders.

As you get more comfortable with feeding birds, we'd suggest buying some of our other seed mixes. Just remember that it can take birds a little time to adjust to new foods, so give them a little time to get used to it.

Our foods come in different mixes to suit your garden, your wildlife and you. Some of the ingredients we put in our seed mixes include; sunflowers (hearts, chips or seeds), peanuts, wheat, maize, suet pellets, oats and more.

Not all seed mixes will include these and some will have different mixes (e.g. a higher percentage of an ingredient).

Tip - if you want less pigeons in your garden, look for our No Wheat Mix. For the colder months and for the breeding season, you might want to look for a mix that includes high energy ingredients such as suet.

There are a few reasons why birds might not eat the bird food you buy for them. Perhaps the biggest reason is the place your feeding them is too exposed. By this we mean it doesn't have anywhere for the birds to escape to should a predator appear, for example maybe it's a little too close to your fence, where the neighbours cat can get at them while they feed.

For this reason it can take birds a little time to find your feeders and to start feeding from them. Give them a week or two and if they still don't eat the food consider trying a different seed mix, re-locating your feeder somewhere else or use a different bird feeder. Remember that if you do move your feeders, it can take them time to find them again.
