About Our 5kg Sunflower Hearts
The small size of this bag makes it ideal for smaller gardens or smaller feeders. Take a look at our larger bags for bigger gardens and very hungry birds. The larger bags represent a bigger saving
High in energy, our sunflower hearts for birds are a valuable and nutritious seed to have in any garden. With a wide variety of wild birds that love them, sunflower hearts are a versatile and easy to feed seed. Best of all, as they have had the husks removed, the birds will eat the whole seed, leaving little if no mess around your feeding station.
When to feed
Our sunflower hearts are suitable for feeding all year round, although you may wish to switch to sunflower chips (or supplement with chips) in the spring months to help fledglings who may not be able to get at the seed quite as easily as adult birds.
How to feed
Our Sunflower Hearts are a fantastic food for all year round feeding in either; a seed feeder, a sunflower feeder, a ground feeder or on a bird table.
How to store
All of our bird foods should be stored in an airtight container to preserve them for as long as possible. If you do not have an airtight container, a cool dry place will suffice, but we do recommend a container to help keep them fresh for as long as possible.
Birds you might attract to your garden
Most garden birds will eat our sunflower hearts, but some birds that particularly enjoy them include:
Blackbird, Blue Tit, Chaffinch, Coal Tit, Collared Dove, Dunnock, Goldfinch, Great Spotted Woodpecker, Great Tit, Greenfinch, House Sparrow, Long-Tailed Tit, Nuthatch, Robin, Starling, Wood Pigeon.
Sunflower Hearts are not fit for human consumption.
