About Our 25kg Sunflower Hearts
High in energy, our 25.1kg sunflower hearts for birds are a valuable and nutritious seed to have in any garden. With a wide variety of wild birds that love them, sunflower hearts are a versatile and easy to feed seed. Best of all, as they have had the husks removed, the birds will eat the whole seed, leaving little if no mess around your feeding station.
Do you do smaller bags?
If 25.1kg is a little too much for you, take a look at the 12.55kg Sunflower Hearts. This 25.1kg will be delivered as 2x 12.55kg bags, so you don't need to worry about not being able to lift it.
When to feed
All of our sunflower hearts are suitable for feeding all year round, although you may wish to switch to sunflower chips (or supplement with chips) in the spring months to help fledglings who may not be able to get at the seed quite as easily as adult birds. Similarly you might want to supplement with suet pellets or fat balls during the winter months, as the suet will help build fat reserves.
How to feed
Our Sunflower Hearts are a fantastic food for all year round feeding in either; a seed feeder, a sunflower feeder, a ground feeder or on a bird table.
How to store
All of our bird foods should be stored in an airtight container to preserve them for as long as possible. If you do not have an airtight container, a cool dry place will suffice, but we do recommend a container to help keep them fresh for as long as possible.
Birds you might attract to your garden
Most garden birds will eat our sunflower hearts, but some birds that particularly enjoy them include:
Blackbird, Blue Tit, Chaffinch, Coal Tit, Collared Dove, Dunnock, Goldfinch, Great Spotted Woodpecker, Great Tit, Greenfinch, House Sparrow, Long-Tailed Tit, Nuthatch, Robin, Starling, Wood Pigeon.
Rising Sunflower Prices
Poor weather has caused the worst Sunflower crop in Europe in over 10 years. This worldwide shortage is causing prices to increase, with further rises expected in 2025. We anticipate this will continue until the next crop around September 2025.
Please note
Sunflower Hearts are a natural product and therefore can vary in size dependent on the weather during the growing season. At times, they may include a small percentage of chips.
Sunflower Hearts are not fit for human consumption.
