About Our 25kg Sunflower Heart Chips
High in energy and essential oils, Sunflower Heart Chips are a valuable and nutritious seed for any garden bird's diet. Sunflower Seeds are of the super foods for garden birds, and the Chips have simply been dehusked and broken into smaller, bite-sized pieces. A perfect alternative to Sunflower Hearts, our Chips contain the same amount of nutrition and essential oils as a full Sunflower Heart.
Due to the process involved to chip the sunflower, it is possible that some black sunflower husk is still left attached to the chipped sunflower. The black husk may fall off during transit, but will still remain mixed inside the bag of chips. This will not harm the birds, nor impair the nutritional content of the sunflower heart chips.
The poor harvest in 2024 caused by adverse weather and growing conditions means that the average heart size can be smaller than for previous harvests and the colour of the chips can be slightly darker due to higher oil content. Whilst having an aesthetic impact, it will not change the nutritional benefits of this highly nutritious feed.

When to feed
Sunflower Heart Chips are suitable to be fed all year round. However, the small kibbled size of the Chips will make a popular springtime feed for fledglings as fledglings struggle to eat larger seeds and feeds.
How to feed
Suitable for year round feeding, our Sunflower Heart Chips can be fed from either; a seed feeder, a ground feeder or on a bird table.
How to store
All of our bird foods should be stored in an airtight container to preserve them for as long as possible. If you do not have an airtight container, a cool dry place will suffice, but we do recommend a container to help keep them fresh for as long as possible.
Birds you might attract to your garden
Sunflower Heart Chips are a favourite among many species of wild birds. The smaller kibbled size makes them appealing for smaller birds to eat. You can expect the following guests in your garden when feeding chips:
Blackbird, Blue Tit, Chaffinch, Coal Tit, Collared Dove, Dunnock, Goldfinch, Great Spotted Woodpecker, Great Tit, Greenfinch, House Sparrow, Long-Tailed Tit, Nuthatch, Robin, Starling, Wood Pigeon.
