Sunflower Seeds have a high oil and fat content making them fantastic for healthy feathers and beaks. When feeding, you might see the birds working the seeds with their beaks to get at the heart within, they'll then discard the husk. They'll likely leave these beneath your feeders, so if you'd like to have a little less mess in your garden then try Sunflower Hearts or Sunflower Chips.

When to feed

Our black sunflower seeds are suitable for feeding all year round, although you may wish to switch to sunflower chips in the spring months to help fledglings who may not be able to get at the heart quite as easily as adult birds.

How to feed

Our Black Sunflower Seeds are a fantastic food for all year round feeding in either; a seed feeder, a sunflower feeder, a ground feeder or on a bird table.

How to store

All of our bird foods should be stored in an airtight container to preserve them for as long as possible. If you do not have an airtight container, a cool dry place will suffice, but we do recommend a container to help keep them fresh for as long as possible.

Birds you might attract to your garden

Due to their size and the need to remove the husk before eating, you'll probably see some birds going for other foods over Black Sunflower Seeds and that's ok! Birds that enjoy Black Sunflower Seeds include:
